Seminar 3:

30 April
Developing Advanced Intercultural Teacher Effectiveness (DAITE)
Nick Stone, Teaching and Learning Unit & Centre for the Study of Higher Education
Venue: Doug McDonell Rm619

Abstract
Participants at this seminar will learn about DAITE, a new TLU Learning and Teaching Performance Fund project to support Faculty academics’ intercultural teaching. DAITE is designed for academics at all stages of their career- tutors, seminar facilitators, lecturers at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The project involves creating online learning resources to support academic teachers to continue developing their expertise, with a special focus on students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.

The project is based on current international and Faculty-based research into effective intercultural teaching practice, whose findings will be presented and discussed. Participants will be invited to comment on the usability and content of the new resources, as well as identifying further areas potentially needing closer attention. The collegiate exchange of experiences, techniques, tips and tools for intercultural teaching is a major objective of the seminar.
