Individual Consultations for students - maths and statistics

Some subjects require a certain level of mathematical and statistical knowledge, so the TLU offers help through individual consultations with Mrs. Dorothea Carter.

Dorothea holds a Bachelor of Education degree with Majors in double Mathematics and Accounting and a minor in Psychology. She has been an assessor for VCAA in Further Mathematics. She will be available for student consultations from 10am until 12pm every Tuesday and Thursday.

If you are an undergraduate student, you may you need some basic maths help for QM1, QM2, Intermediate Microeconomics, and Introductory Econometrics. If you're a graduate, Dorothea can provide general maths and stats assistance or more specialised help, for example with your mathematical analysis for the Master of Applied Commerce.

Making a booking

You can make individual consultation bookings of 30 minutes or 1 hour in the following way:

  1. Make an appointment at the Faculty Office by ringing 8344 4464 or 8344 3645

When and where?

Available times are Tuesday and Thursday, from 10am-12pm, throughout the semester. It's usually best to book at least one day ahead. All consultations will be held in one of the Teaching and Learning rooms in The Spot, and Dorothea will meet you for the first time on Level 6.

How many per semester?

Students can generally have up to eight individual maths and stats consultations per semester, however the limit is somewhat flexible and depends largely on other students' needs.
