Audio streaming

Audio streaming allows students to download and listen to audio recordings of each lecture from each subject homepage. The audio recordings are usually made available 1-2 days after each lecture.

There are two options available for audio streaming:

  • Recording with a compact digital device: The device allows starting and finishing of the recording at any time, as well as pausing throughout the lecture. The device needs to be collected before the lecture and returned afterwards so the recording can be encoded.
  • Automatic recording through iLecture (university-wide audio streaming service): In automatic recording through iLecture, there is no need to use the device, providing automatic recording is supported in the venue where the lectures takes place. It will start and finish on the specified hour (no recording can be done above this time) and there is no option for pausing.

In both cases, the recordings web page will be linked to the subject home page, which can then be accessed by students.

If you would like to take up either option, please email Jenny Pesina or telephone 03 8344 3460 with the subject code, lecture times and days.

The iLecture booking form also needs to be completed for either option. The list of iLecture-enabled venues can be found in the booking form. If the venue is not listed or if academic staff would like to record with the device, they must choose the "Sony recorder" option.

Please note that failures do sometimes occur due to technical or human error. Students should be advised that audio streaming is a service designed to complement live lectures and not to replace attending lectures. If a failure occurs, academic staff will have the option of rerecording the lecture using a digital recording device.
